VYŠŠÍ BROD MONASTERY: The monastery in Vyšší Brod was founded by Vok of Rožmberk in 1259. Vok had the Cistercians summoned from Wilherig in Austria, and according to his will, this place became the family monastery. This Vyšebrod church represents the largest Czech family mausoleum, with continuity from the 13th to the 17th century – 10 generations of Rožmberks are buried here. The monastery is open to visitors from 1 May to 30 September. Tours are available daily except Mondays, with the first tour starting at 9:30 a.m. and the last at 5:00 p.m. On Sundays, the tours start at 12:30. During the low season, it is possible to book a tour.
