VÍTEK’S CASTLE

VÍTEK’S CASTLE: Vítek’s Castle is a ruined Gothic castle situated on the summit of a hill overlooking the Lipno dam, approximately 5 km from the village of Přední Výtoň. It is the highest ruin in the Czech Republic. The site is also known as Vítek’s Stone or Wittigstein in German. Access is typically via the Lipno reservoir, passing through the settlement of Frýdava, or from the settlement of Svatý Tomáš along the red road. The tower offers a beautiful view of Lipno, Klet’, the Novohradské Mountains and numerous hills in Austria. The area is also well-served by several cycling paths. Vítek’s Castle has become a source of inspiration for many painters and writers.
