Vítkův Hrádek

Vítkův Hrádek is the ruin of a Gothic castle standing on the summit of Vítkův Hrádek hill on the shore of the Lipno reservoir, about 5 km from the village of Přední Výtoň. It is the highest-situated castle ruin in the Czech Republic. You may also come across the names Vítkův Kámen or the German designation Wittigstein. Access is usually along the Lipno reservoir, through the settlement of Frýdava, or from the settlement of Svatý Tomáš along the red trail. From the tower there is a beautiful view of Lipno, of Kleť, and you can also see the Novohradské Mountains and numerous hills in Austria. There are also several cycle trails nearby. Vítkův Kámen has been an inspiration for many painters and writers.
